The Anti-Feminist's Drinking Game

Update #2: I deleted the second "equality" that was in my post. That one is used so often by anti-feminists that it stuck in my head. Here are other words, suggested in comments and a few of my own:

Equality of opportunity

Identity politics

Men's Rights

Fathers' Rights

Fathers' Rights Movement (This one is good for a boilermaker. Boo-yah!!)

Parent's rights

Humorless

Empowerment feminist (two shots)

Children need two parents. (two shots)

Fathers are more than wallets. (three shots)

Post-feminist

You create your own reality (the victim-blaming line)

Equalist

Shrill

Hysterical

Angry

Hatred

Man-hater

Misandrist

Promiscuous

Whore

Frigid

Sex-phobic (Regarding those last few, I love the way anti-feminists contradict themselves. Heh.)

Hypocrite

Update: I fixed the link to Protein Wisdom. I had up the wrong link, and it went deep into comments. It be fixed.

-----

Ha! Poor Jeff G. from Protein Wisdom is whining in my comments to this post, in which I told anti-feminists to knock it off with the generalizations and stereotypes. I also reminded them to knock it off with how they use those same generalizations and stereotypes to derail feminist discussion when they invade comments sections in feminist areas on the Internets.

Since I decided it was time to have some fun with this, I started the "Anti-Feminist's Drinking Game". Here are the rules, which are subject to change on my whim.

One shot each time an anti-feminist troll writes...

"equality"

"fairness"

"victim"

"misandry"

"FemNag"

"Feminazi"

"matriarchy"

Two shots for the following:

"equity feminist"

"gender feminist"

Feel free to add new words to the drinking game in my comments. If you start to get too tipsy, feel free to feed the booze to a potted plant. evil_smiley.gif

Comments

"Equality of opportunity" and "radical" definitely merit at least one shot each.

Posted by: Alon Levy at Dec 11, 2005 3:17:17 PM

They're now officially added to the game, Alon. ;)

Posted by: The Countess at Dec 11, 2005 3:32:35 PM

"Identity politics"

"Men's rights"

"Humorless"

Posted by: ilyka at Dec 11, 2005 5:05:54 PM

It'd be a crime to forget "labeling [those you disagree with] “anti-feminists”"

Posted by: OHNOES at Dec 11, 2005 5:24:56 PM

One shot for "Men's rights".

Two shots for "Fathers' rights".

And how about a boiler maker for
"father's rights movement". That's the name of their religious sect. There are Catholics,
Protestants, Mormons and 'The father's rights movement'.

Posted by: at Dec 11, 2005 5:39:22 PM

Why did you keep linking a comment by someone who is NOT me in a series of posts premised on decrying how the monolithic "conservatives" lump all feminists together? You keep linking to a commenter, Allah, but attributing it to me.

Kinda undercuts your point, doesn't it?

Posted by: Jeff G at Dec 11, 2005 6:06:13 PM

Strange, my comment moved, as if by magic to the previous post...

I say there should be a shot for mention of a "penis"...

None for vagina though... Buahahaha! :D

Posted by: Mark at Dec 11, 2005 6:29:02 PM

Tsk, tsk, Trish, you emasculating harpy. How could you?

This calls for a t-shirt.

Posted by: ilyka at Dec 11, 2005 7:04:29 PM

Allah's whiny comments there are hotter than Jeff G's whiny comments here.

Posted by: The Heretik at Dec 11, 2005 7:23:47 PM

I didn't understand one comment on this post.

Posted by: NYMOM at Dec 11, 2005 7:42:50 PM

Two shots: mentions of any kind of artificial womb device

Posted by: R. Mildred at Dec 11, 2005 8:00:01 PM

I'm just checking in to see all the fun. The Count and are are well into Season Four of "24". I'm addicted.

I say two shots for "Children need two parents."

Two shots for "empowerment feminist". That another anti-feminist category from men's rights dude Warren Farrell.

Three shots for "fathers are more than wallets."

Any more shots than that and I'll have to crack open the whole bottle and just get a spigot.

Posted by: The Countess at Dec 11, 2005 8:06:08 PM

Ilyka, I love you.

Posted by: Lauren at Dec 12, 2005 1:08:57 AM

I'd like to see a drink for "post-feminist" as well.

Posted by: rackletang at Dec 12, 2005 1:38:49 AM

Ha ha Ilyka! Great t-shirt. ;)

Posted by: The Countess at Dec 12, 2005 7:31:11 AM

If this is going to be a proper war, then you need to have a flag or at least uniforms of some sort.

Posted by: Defense Guy at Dec 12, 2005 10:11:22 AM

The first time someone suggested having uniforms, there erupted a civil war within feminism over whether the uniforms should have skirts to symbolize femininity or pants to symbolize gender equality.

Posted by: Alon Levy at Dec 12, 2005 10:25:39 AM

By the way, the word "equality" appears twice in your post - once at the beginning and once at the end of the one-shot-each list.

Posted by: Alon Levy at Dec 12, 2005 10:26:57 AM

lmao

NyMom, I think one needs a strong sense of humor and a love of surrealism to fully understand this thread. No one post is complete by itself, the synergy holds the importance (at least to my way of reading this). It also helps to be a frustrated feminist. But, you are self-acknowledged to not be a feminist and are constantly negating feminists .. so that may be why you aren't understanding the posts. No offense intended by my comments, just general observations.

As a radical feminist, I "get it" entirely. Oops, I used "radical", does that mean I get a shot? Thanks, but I'll take it as a toke. I am proud of being a radical, counter-culture feminist.

Wish I had one to add ... well, perhaps not quite along the same line, but two shots for any who use the "you create your own reality" victim-blaming line.

Posted by: lee at Dec 12, 2005 11:20:34 AM

I know, Alon. I've just been too lazy today to go back into the post and delete that second "equality". Maybe the word is used so much by anti-feminists that it stuck in my head.

Posted by: The Countess at Dec 12, 2005 11:22:14 AM

Ilyka, I want one too! I like to tell my wife she saved me from becoming a lonely & bitter old man.

My nominations:

"If I'm walking in dark alley..."

Equalist

Shrill

Hysterical

Posted by: Ron O. at Dec 12, 2005 11:38:12 AM

Ooo. Boilermakers. Evil. They'll make me puke in your potted plants. Beer is a chaser, soda is a mixer.

Posted by: at Dec 12, 2005 11:40:40 AM

Trish,

What's all this about you saying generalizing isn't right? You say people do this about feminists? God forbid...they better not think you and I are the same!!! I KNOW what equality is.

It seems you're a hypocrit Trish. You called all of us fathers rights activists "angry" when you wrote to my legislators, didn't you? YOU are guilty of this Trish.

Remember, integrity is very important.

The first time someone suggested having uniforms, there erupted a civil war within feminism over whether the uniforms should have skirts to symbolize femininity or pants to symbolize gender equality.

Oh, we finally agreed on the type--cullote-style pants, like the sort worn in some martial arts. They are feminine and skirty, yet comfy, and one can kick ass while looking fabulous. We're just trying to work out the color now. I wanted blue-gray, the better to bring back memories of the collective farm, which gets all the neocons in a froth. But others, in a fit of irony, are pushing for pink.

I'm also partial to flash orange. ;)

Posted by: at Dec 12, 2005 1:25:00 PM

Any mention of the words promiscuous, frigid, or sex-phobic used to described feminists should earn you a trip to the keg, and you shall shotgun the whole damn thing.

Posted by: Sheelzebub at Dec 12, 2005 1:28:57 PM

She wrote "equality"!! Everyone, take one shot. [drinks]

A hah! More good drinking words from anti-feminists:

Angry - one shot

Hypocrite - one shot

Feminist4Fathers - one shot

Posted by: The Countess at Dec 12, 2005 1:31:30 PM

What do I do if I don't drink anything alcoholic (or, for that matter, anything that isn't water or regular soda)?

By the way, which colors are you talking about - those of the class-A's, the class-B's, or the fatigues?

Posted by: Alon Levy at Dec 12, 2005 1:59:01 PM

Trish,

I'd take a shot for you using the word "angry" but to tell you the truth, your writing makes me need the whole bottle to feel better. It's easier for me to just not read your hatred.

I find it very sad that you find joy in other people's misery and heartbreak. These people you constantly insult are parents who love their children.

Thank God for Karma,
Teri

Alon: "What do I do if I don't drink anything alcoholic (or, for that matter, anything that isn't water or regular soda)?"

Cold medicine? ;) Seriously, anything you like. The rule for non-alcoholic drinkers is that they are not allowed to use the bathroom for the duration of the game. You have to have some pain, too, ya know. :D And no relieving yourself into an empty bottle hidden under your coat. That would be cheating.

"By the way, which colors are you talking about - those of the class-A's, the class-B's, or the fatigues?"

For colors, I prefer Arterial Blood Red. And no culottes! They're for nerds. I like the idea of city fatigues or leather pants with lots of zippers. ;)

And she said "hatred". A new word to add to the list. Drink up, folks. [drinks]

Posted by: The Countess at Dec 12, 2005 2:51:14 PM

Okay, I don't understand the "leather pants with lots of zippers" reference :(.

But I'd say the pants shouldn't have any zippers, because of that post on I Blame the Patriarchy about how zipper flies exclude women.

Posted by: Alon Levy at Dec 12, 2005 4:30:16 PM

I'd take a shot for you using the word "angry" but to tell you the truth, your writing makes me need the whole bottle to feel better. It's easier for me to just not read your hatred.

Dunno about that. You've been giving it the old college try so far. (The reading, at least.)

Posted by: Sheelzebub at Dec 12, 2005 4:41:20 PM

LOL Alon, then let's stick with black velvet stretch pants. They look kick-ass to me, anyway. Plus, they're comfortable. Comfort is king as far as I'm concerned.

I'm kinda getting the skirt/pants debate here, but I might be missing something. I just think that black leather pants with lots of zippers are cool.

Posted by: The Countess at Dec 12, 2005 5:14:31 PM

Sheelz, Teri is a fathers' rights activist. That's why she's so snippy. It must be hard to fight for disinfranchised, whiny men and not get appreciated for it. ;) I must be some kind of threat to her, otherwise she wouldn't read my blog so much. Heh.

Posted by: The Countess at Dec 12, 2005 5:16:17 PM

I'd like to add:

"a real feminist would...."

They have such a need for control that they attempt to control the definitions used by those whose opinions they disagree with completely!

Medic! Medic!!! ;)

Posted by: The Countess at Dec 13, 2005 5:19:27 PM

Do we have to drink if someone uses these phrases not as a way of ramming feminism, as in, "The government needs to subsidize day care because as long as women aren't free to pursue their chosen career paths, there will never be true equality"?

Posted by: Alon Levy at Dec 13, 2005 6:42:33 PM

What, all these comments and no one says, "But you just hate me because I have a penis! Or am a man!"

Then there's, "But it happens to men!!11"

"Men should have choices, too."

If I took a shot every time I heard those, I'd be drunk before noon.

Posted by: ginmar at Dec 18, 2005 11:04:39 AM

Except that "Abortion Vs. Miscarriage," "A New Anti-Feminist Conference," and ""24" Rocks!" are all missing ("Not found on this server"), and the Sonja Braga comments are cut in half.

Posted by: Anne at Dec 18, 2005 3:56:48 PM

Excuse me--I mean the comments are gone, not the articles themselves.

Posted by: Anne at Dec 18, 2005 4:50:47 PM

It's crazy because there were some good posts, now they're gone!

Posted by: BJ at Dec 18, 2005 6:46:14 PM

Thanks for telling me, Anne. I had to save a bunch of posts to make them come back up again. I hope I don't have to go back months to do this.

Typepad did some maintenance on Saturday, and my blog was only showing old posts with old comments. It was like that all day, and it wasn't back to normal until yesterday.

I have an article to write, and I didn't want to spend my morning fixing my blog. I think it's fixed now, though. At least, I hope so.
