Friday Cat Blogging Part II

This is the Count's black tabby from World of Warcraft. The black tabby used to be the Maine Coon, but the game makers changed the name because some players were offended by the word "Coon". I thought that was stupid. The cat got the name because it's from Maine, and it looks like a raccoon.

Of note, Vivendi changed the name but not the graphic and as far as I know there's no such breed as a "Black Tabby" since the tabby markings would not be visible on a black colored cat. The more cynical of us WoWers noted that while Vivendi changed the name, they changed it to "Black..." which strikes us as they sticking their tongue out at someone.

Yup, there is no such breed as a black tabby. The graphic doesn't look changed at all. When it was Maine Coon I thought it looked like someone took an electric razor to the cat, since Maine Coons are much fluffier than the cat in the game.

They love to climb trees, too. ;)

I think WoW should come out with a serval for a pet. That would impress everyone.

I am so angry at them for bowing to idiots. I farmed them with my level 41 Undead Rogue and put one up on the Gadgetzan AH for my 60 NE Hunter to purchase so my Rogue would have enough for an undead horse mount... and so my NE would have a cool cat. :P

The least they could have done was change it to "Dalaran Tabby" or something. :P
