Mulder's Getting Worse

My husband and I just gave Mulder her water and her pill, and she wasn't even able to stand up. She's lost a lot of weight, and she looks terrible. I made an appointment with the vet for 12:45 pm, and I have a feeling we're going to have to have her put to sleep. She probably has renal failure. She was my favorite cat, next to Koala who died from cancer two years ago. I got her the day before she was due to be euthanized, and she was abused by her previous owners. She was always a grumbly kitty, but she loved being around us.

I don't think I'm going to post anymore today. I'm too depressed.

I'm sorry to hear about Mulder. I hope it isn't renal failure.

I extend my deepest sympathies. I hope your cat gets better. If not, I bid her safe and painfree passage to the Summerland (or place of your choosing).

I tend to lurk here, but I am a cat lover and want you to know that I feel for you and your cat.

Poor kitty. But you have given her lots of love in her life, and years she would never have had otherwise. It's good that she has you now.

Ugh, sorry to hear that, Trish. One of the kitties I left at home when I moved about a decade ago died within the last month. My mom woke up to find her dead under the kitchen table, right over the warm spot she liked to sleep in.

Astarte and I also lost a rat recently. Heck, with the short lifespans they have, we lose a lot of rats frequently. :(

Hang in there.

Take care of yourself. Good luck with Mulder, sweet black kitty.

Trish,

Good luck with the vet. I hope that Mulder recovers and that it isn't renal failure.

Thanks everyone for your kind comments. Mulder died peacefully at about eleven thirty last night. Michael, she was 11 years old. A little young to die. Her illness came on very suddenly and she died in a week. She was my favorite cat, even over Lucky, because I rescued her the day before she was due to be euthanized. When I first got her she didn't trust anyone and didn't like to be petted or picked up. Within a couple of years, she was a lap cat who wanted to be petted all the time. She still didn't like other cats, but Scully always followed her around. Scully was her friend, whether she liked it or not. I'm going to miss her.

Once again, everyone, thank you.
