Marcus Wesson

Who? you ask.

Forgot already, didn't you?

He's the dad who murdered his 9 children in Fresno, California.

Wesson was charged on Tuesday (March 16) with nine counts of allegedly shooting his children. His arraignment was postponed until Thursday so his new attorney can talk to his family and decide whether or not to take the case. Wesson had turned down a public defender. His family has to determine if they can afford a private defense attorney. He is being held in jail on a $9 million bail.

Prosecutors are deciding whether to seek the death penalty.

This is the largest mass shooting in Fresno history.

I thought it was about time for an update. This case is getting some coverage, but there doesn't seem to be the same level of outrage that is being expressed over Melissa Rowland, who has been charged with murder for refusing the c-section that killed one of her newborns.

this case is still getting coverage out here in the bay area, but the thing that's frustrating me is how little attention they're giving to the fact that they were all his CHILDREN/GRANDCHILDREN/BOTH. they do talk about it being the largest mass shooting in fresno history and they do talk about him killing his family, but the casual reader might think "what a tragedy, another guy shoots his parents and siblings, etc". granted that would still be horrible and shocking, however, if this was a woman who murdered 9 of her children, THAT would be the primary point of discussion. "MOTHER CHARGED WITH MURDERING 9 OF HER CHILDREN", not "FRESNO MAN CHARGED IN 9 MURDERS".

i guess because men don't have a "mother's instinct" it's not surprising or horrific that he'd murder his children? please.

Just wanted to thank you for the great post on Ms.Rowland's case.
What a shame that reporters don't think she deserves, if not a lot
of coverage, at least a factual one.

I, too, wnated to thank you for bringing up this case.

Problem is, I'm still trying to track down at least two other cases that happened at the same time as the Yates case. One was in British Columbia, that was all I remembered. One man suffocated his kids; the other two killed all their kids---ten, I think, in total, and one of their estranged wives. They popped up briefly on CNN---in the ticker tape---and that was it. Disappeared. It's only bad and shocking when women do it.
