Bloggers - Pew!

Kevin Drum has brought our attention to an important survey from the Pew Internet Project that included statistics about blogs. [via Calpundit.]

According to the survey, over the past year, either 2% or 2 - 7% of Internet users were writing blogs. The squishy figures probably depended on the number of monkeys in front of the number of keyboards in either August, 2003, or early 2004.

11% have read blogs. About half who read blogs read blogs written by their friends, so if you skim that number off the top, that leaves about 5% of internet users who read blogs.

About a third of that 11% have commented on blogs. How much of that third is comprised of flamers and trolls has not been calculated, but chances are they comprise a hefty chunk. And that doesn't include the people who can't spell or use grammar good.
