A Day Spent Writing Erotica
I know that I have been neglecting this blog. The reason is that I have been getting used to a new sex writing gig. I'm starting to finally feel comfortable with it enough to update my blog now.
What is it like to be a sex writer? When I tell people around me that I am a sex writer, I end up in the most amusing and friendly conversations. My husband and I met a lawyer a few months ago, and he asked what we did for a living. When I told him what I did, the man's interest piqued. I wonder if he had considered what a three-way would be like with me and my husband. Sometimes people assume that I am sex on wheels because I write about it all the time. While I do have a high sex drive, I don't think about sex 24/7. Even though I write about it. Even though I spent a couple of hours today working on a sex scene. I won't say that it gets boring but it does get comfortable. I like exploring my sexuality through my writing.
We don't have a car anymore because my husband totaled our car about a year ago. It wasn't his fault. There was an unmarked manhole cover sticking out of the road, and both of us didn't see it until he drove over it. We can't afford to buy a new one, but we really don't need it. The bus gets us to the grocery store and the ever-important Blockbuster. I must have my movie rentals! Gas prices are so ridiculously high that the bus ends up being a much cheaper way of getting around. I work at home and my husband's job is close enough so that he can bike to work. The local police station has a bike auction every spring, so we're going to find a bike short enough so that I can use it. Most bikes I've seen are just too tall for me. They hurt my knees when I stand with them between my legs. So, I need a very low-riding bike.
The bus driver gets a major kick out of my sex writing. I tell her about my latest articles about sex toys and sex in general, and she ends up with a great big smile on her face. I'm probably the only sex writer she knows. I expect news of this to get around fast, because we live in a small town. There isn't even a traffic light here, that's how small the town is.
I finished a novella today, but it's not ready to go out yet. I'm going to let it sit for a few days, and then give it the final once-over. From there, I'll decide where to send it. I have several options. I also need to get my contract to Dark Eden Press. I want to get working on my short story for Dark Eden because the quicker I work on it, the sooner it gets released, and the more money I make.
I have enough writing gigs now to keep me very busy. I don't need to add more. There is one that I am considering anyway, because what is being offered me is very good. I think I will accept it.
