Shorah, Fellow Uru Explorers.
You may remember me from the Atrus shard. I am Raewyn. Exploring Ae'Gura and the neighborhoods with fellow explorers in Uru Live was an opportunity that far too few had the pleasure to experience. This scrapbook holds happy memories of Uru Live that I hope will be resurrected with the first expansion pack.
The images include those taken shortly before the midnight shut-down on the last day of Live. I've also included some shots that definitely won't appear in the expansion, such as Sharper's Christmas tree.
I invite you to visit my Uru Category on my web log. I'll see all of you in the Uru forums.
Scroll down this page for photo album thumbnails and descriptions.
--Raewyn
My primary avatar, Raewyn (pronounced "rain"). She lived in Flea's Neighborhood (1) in the Atrus shard.
KI number 01234122
My other avatar, Lucius. He ran around in the Katran shard.
I purposefully tried to make him look like James Mason.
My profile of Lucius. I loved that pith helmet.
The male avatars had such baby-faces that I aged Lucius as much as I could. I thought that the round glasses gave him a retro '30s look.
This was an odd bug that made me hover above my Relto when I linked to it. I'd hover for a couple of seconds, and then fall through the ground into nothingness. Always had to link again.
A bug in live made me see myself looking at myself as I looked through the scope in Teledahn. I took this shot and the next one before moving my cursor. Once I moved the cursor, things went back to normal. I never saw this bug again.
Most Uru Live explorers already know this, but the newbies don't.
The Eder Gira feathers easter egg: "You pick up a feather and put it in your pocket. I know you didn't see yourself do that... trust me, you have a feather in your pocket." If you typed "/get feather" anywhere else, this is the message you received: "There are no feathers here." If you typed anything else, such as "/get penguin," this is the message you received: "The penguin is too heavy to lift. Maybe you should stick to feathers."
My s. o. said these quotes referred to a very old came called "Adventure." I've never heard of it.
I'm in the process of creating my own Eder Kemo garden. I'm moving bamboo that already grows on the property to a corner so it looks like the Garden Age. Remember those little blue flowers in the Cleft? They're called "bluets." They grow east of the Mississippi, and they are blooming right now in the early Spring (May 14 in Massachusetts). I went out to the cliffs overlooking the ocean and took some photos of them. I transplanted some to pots to see if they'd take.
Here is another shot of the bluets on the cliffs near my home. It's almosts like being in the Cleft with Anna and Atrus.
Here is the cliff where the bluets grow. On the horizon you can see the Atlantic Ocean.
When I went to a garden nursery over the weekend, I ran across a new variety of perennial primrose that looks very much like the Cleft bluets. It's called "Tie Die," and it's very pretty. This primrose will come back every year, unlike the annual variety you usually see at the stores. I'm going to find more and plant them.
A shot of the Egg Room after a balcony jump. This is the door that leads into the 'hood.
Another shot of the inside of one of the alcoves. I was hovering above the floor because I dropped into the Egg Room after a balcony jump.
A shot of the Egg Room after a balcony jump. This was before explorers were officially allowed into that room. The blue fire crystal doorknobs on the inside of those doors would become smaller and then disappear as a team of five people played with the doors in the rooms. We did not have enough time to figure out the puzzle before Live shut down. I suspect the egg in the room was supposed to open. After all, as Zandi said, "the gathered will tell the path of the shell..."
One shot of the egg. Being alone in one of those rooms was like being inside a chapel.
After yet another successful balcony jump and walk around the Egg Room before it had officially opened, I took this interesting shot of my 'hood. You can see how deeply it sits in the cavern.
Lots of people took pictures of the inside of the Egg Room after jumping the balcony, but no one took pictures of Ae'Gura. The view hovering above the Egg Room gave me a couple of very nice shots. I like this panorama taken of my 'hood from above the Egg Room best of the two I had taken. This shot was taken before explorers were officially allowed in the Egg Room.
A shot of the Egg Room, including a Great Zero marker. I suppose with so many Live and Prime explorers jumping the balcony and getting into that Egg Room, the DRC had no choice but to finally open it to the public. ;)
We're actually chatting a lot, but you'd never know from the way we seem to be just standing around doing nothing.
This shot is from Hogarth's Rogue's Gallery, his wonderful photos that are available in the Uru Forums. He took this shot in the Uru Obsession 'hood. I'm the cute one in highland sweater and jeans on the far right. ;)
Another shot from Hogarth's Rogue's Gallery, available in the Uru Forums.
I don't know who the woman is who is dancing next to me. I thought we looked cute. Hogarth thought we looked crazed. He may be right.
Another shot of Hogarth, Kirsehn, and Jon on the last day in Live.
More explorers in the Uru Obsession 'hood talking about Live and what is to come.
In the Uru Obsession 'hood closing in on midnight. That's me in the middle. This hood was packed with over 70 people within the last hour. As Live ended, all of us said goodbye, played in the fountain, and danced.
The Happy New Year banner in my 'hood, Flea's Neighborhood. This image was from my KI.
Hogarth took this on the last day. He liked the Santa hats. If you around on or about Christmas day, you found a cute little Santa hat in your closet. They were painted red, but you could change the color. I liked mine in white or gray after the holiday ended. I waved this time. I didn't want to look like a frenetic grasshopper when I danced.
This is another shot that may be found in Hogarth's Rogue's Gallery, available in the Uru Forums.
There was a menorrah in the DRC office on the roof in Ae'Gura. I made sure I got a shot of it before it went away.
Douglas Sharper had a pathetic little Charlie Brown Christmas tree in his office. This image was from my KI.
The shadowperson at the top of the Great Stair is none other than Mystlander.
These little flowers in the Cleft are called bluets. They grow on the cliffs near my home. When they bloom in the spring, I'll post some pictures of them. There are white ones, too.
I love my rug. I was lucky that after Live ended I somehow was able to keep it. I found the Yeesha page in Eder Kemo. I wish someone would weave this rug for real. I'd buy it.
