Belated Friday Cat Blogging
I was too lazy to do Friday Cat Blogging yesterday, so I did it today. Here is Lucky playing with his favorite toy. He already ripped the ball off of the leather rope once, and I had to superglue it back on. He's eaten all the felt on the ball. When we're sitting around, he'll drag that toy over to us, and pester us until we play with him. He was pestering us for the past half hour, so The Count got up and played with him. I took photos until I caught him grabbing the toy in mid-air. That didn't take long.

It's funny...from that picture, he doesn't look very lucky.

Kiri would love to play! Does Lucky Fetch?

Oh, he's lucky, Michael. That picture is the end result of him jumping up in the air and catching the ball.
Yes, Clare, Lucky can fetch. We throw his jingly balls, and he fetches them, and carries them back to us in his mouth. He also carries around that toy, and drops it at our feet when he wants us to play ball with him.

Aren't you afraid he'll eat the superglue off the ball too?

The superglue isn't on the ball. It's only at the tip of the leather string that's inside the ball. I shoved the string deep into the ball so he couldn't yank it off again. Lucky will be fine.
Lucky has a toy with a feather on the end, but he doesn't like that one as much as that mangy ball.

He looks so serious and intent.

He's very serious and intent when he plays with that ball, Mandos. He pesters me to play, too. He'll drop his toy at my feet and tap at me until I get up and play with him. He can be very persistent.

It's funny to see a cat who cares so much. I live with two cats (not mine) who are fat and lazy and don't care much about anything.

They are probably old too.
I know when my cat and dog got old (I got them both fairly young together) they stopped caring about anything, even food...
I used to open a can of tuna fish or order spare ribs and they'd both be rushing into the kitchen to beg for some. But in the last year or so of their lives, they weren't so interested anymore...
I'd have to bring something they formerly loved practically in their faces before they would notice it and even then they would just lick at it, but not really eat it anymore...
So those two cats just sound old as well as fat...

Mulder was a carpet whale when she was only two years old. She's the one who recently died of kidney failure. We nicknamed her "Football" because she looked like she swallowed a football, and she had little stumpy legs and a stubby tail. It's amazing to me that she was that big, because when she was a kitten she looked like Ren Hoak from the old "Ren and Stimpy" cartoons.

How did she get that big so young?
You know I actually remember reading about a year ago that a pot bellied pig was removed from his owner because he got too fat...
Then there was a custody case of a really fat kid whose mother was trying to get custody of him from his father.
So they removed the pig; but not the boy.
Which didn't make a lot of sense to me as being overweight as a teenager can devastate a kid (warp his personality for life) and he was just heading into his teen years...but what does a pig know about it, if he's overweight???

Yeah, they are pretty old, I guess. They aren't THAT far gone...they're VERY interested in food, and Whiskas Temptations are like crack to them, and they like going outside. Not doing much outside, but going outside. But yeah, they don't play games with little balls anymore.
