Subvert The Dominant Link Paradigm!

Happy First Day Of Spring!!! This is my Spring Equinox version of "Subvert The Dominant Link Paradigm" weekly post. I purposefully avoided linking to "women blogger" bullshit on purpose (except for two posts that merit attention) because women write so many other interesting things If I can get my lazy carcass out of my computer chair I want to go to the Spring Equinox celebration at America's Stonehenge tomorrow in New Hampshire. The problem is that it's an hour's drive away, and I'm ... lazy. I won't apologize for being sloth. I knew I wasn't an Angel, according to the Seven Deadly Sins test. I still wish I was Lust.

Below are posts from women who aren't your typical A-list pasty white male bloggers. I've included links at the end from men I think are kewl.

Jeanne at Body and Soul is looking for good conservative bloggers. I recommend Ilyka Damen and Meryl Yourish. Give her suggestions.

Magikthise gives her thought on "ticking bomb" scenarios and torture, in particular how certain a certain libertarian male blogger can condone torture as an effective means to an end.

Make sure you keep up with Elayne Rigg's posts about estrogen month. Well worth the read. Here's her latest post. I did not link to her because she cited me. I'm linking because she has put a lot of effort into her project and it is a worthwhile one.

From Lauren at Feministe: modern sardines communicate by farting. She should submit this post to Tangled Bank. If she doesn't do it, next week, I'll submit my own post, and cite her. I just might do that anyway. Fish farts. Doesn't get much more scientific than that. Heh.

Shakespeare's Sister and Pam's House Blend have joined to create Big Brass Blog, an effort to get lesser known blogs more exposure.

Sheelz at Pinko Feminist Hellcat doesn't mince words when it comes to loan sharks credit card companies.

Pseudo-Adrienne posts about the "triple whammy" experienced by women who are members of the LGBT community and who also persons of color. There's much more in her post, but this was only one thought.

While it turns out that white supremacists weren't behind murdering Judge Joan Lefkow's Family, J. G. at Mac-a-ro-nies reminds us that skinhead Matt Hale and his followers were suspects. She details the history of Hale and his racist followers. As she reports, "Hale is awaiting trial after conspiring with members of his hate group, Creativity, to have Judge Lefkow murdered." It's a great post. Go read it.

Amanda at Pandagon has donned her ass-kicking boots over gang rapists who were aquitted. She wrote, "I have a funny feeling that if a bunch of teenage boys turned on a male party-goer and gang raped him while he was too drunk to resist that we wouldn't be victim-blaming."

Roxanne snarks on the "women blogger" thingee by bringing up Spanish scientists who found a direct link between a buck's antlers and the complexity of those antlers and the quality of its sperm. Gimme a turkey baster...

Who Tends The Fires, a friend and conservative blogger I met at The Rott posted a link to the Zombie Scenario Survival Test. I tried taking that ~!@#$% test three times and it made my Mac crash. Gotta do it on the PC. It looks like loads of fun. I like zombies. They're my friends.

From DED Space, honoring astronaut Sally Ride.

From Sapphos Breathing, a huge list of comments from boneheads about why women aren't good bloggers. Have a box of drywall screws or shaved glass ready for your chewing purposes. You'll need it.

Same shit, different comments, from Professor B. I agree that this entire mess is infuriating. I even included one of those jaw-on-desk comments in on the same subject.

Echidne doesn't think that men drill women on dates to see if they are childbearing and marriage material. I ... don't ... think ... so...

Although this is a "subvert the dominant link paradigm" post, I wanted to link to some of the dudes who are kewl in the blogosphere. Here they are, below.

NTodd, who always jokes "what women bloggers?", won an award as a photoblogger. He has a great pre-Spring picture up, which I link to. Go to his main page and read his Spring dedication.

Lance Mannion used to live near Boston. Maybe someday if there is a beach-side Bloggercon in either Cape Ann, where I live, or Cape Cod, we can meet. And I can't guarantee I'll wear a nightie, Lance, especially if we meet in the winter. evil_smiley.gif [Inside joke. Don't ask.]

Noz from Rubber Hose is asking for the following: "Does anyone know where i can find the number of attacks against american and/or coalition forces broken down on a day-by-day or week-by-week basis?" I haven't a clue. If you do, go there and tell him. He was referred to this link. If you have other sources, let him know.

Unbelievable. P. Z. Myers wrote that IMAX theaters in science museums [!!!] are refusing to show movies that deal with evolution. The staff is afraid of Bible thumpers. He quoted a report stating that "Carol Murray, director of marketing for the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History, said the museum decided not to offer the movie after showing it to a sample audience, a practice often followed by managers of Imax theaters. Ms. Murray said 137 people participated in the survey, and while some thought it was well done, "some people said it was blasphemous."" He said Murray was "stupid." I wouldn't have been so kind. I'd be inclined to call her a flukeworm.

Mustang Bobby at Bark Bark Woof Woof posts his thought on the Schiavo case.

Lorenzo at Unimpressed is unimpressed with the misogyny behind Choice4Men. I'm long familiar with that group, and I agree with him wholeheartedly.

The Heretik is doing a bang-up job linking to women bloggers, and he deserves a round of applause. Just go to the main page I linked to and scroll down. He has some great graphics and Bartcop-type commentary, too.

From Barry at Alas, A Blog: "returned mail." Just read it. How rude.

Hugo is going to be a guest dartboard speaker on Glenn Sacks's radio show Sunday (tomorrow). He's speaking against Choice4Men. I mentioned this group earlier in this post. It's ugly and seeks to help men avoid their personal responsibilities. I remember it from my Usenet days. Nasty stuff.

If you are a woman, especially, who wants to be part of my weekly "Subvert the Dominant Paradigm" list, please submit something to me. I think it'll be fun, and it will get exposure to lesser-known blogs. I won't know about you if you don't tell me first. If you think you are a kewl liberal or progressive dude and you'd like to be included, e-mail me. My e-mail address is in the upper left sidebar.

No, really, Trish. Thank you!

This is hilarious! These women bloggers lack anything meaningful to say, so in order to attract male attention, they have to resort to stupid linking scams! How silly!

Thanks for linking me Trish!

Posted by: Pseudo-Adrienne at Mar 19, 2005 11:30:20 PM

Thanks for the lovely plug, Trish! I was beginning to feel taken for granted, and everyone's been so nice to me today!

Posted by: Elayne Riggs at Mar 20, 2005 12:37:08 AM

Hey, Trish -

I wrote a response to all those lame excuses at my blog and I have a sort of survey up at What She Said! that you could help with where I'm trying to make a list of Liberal Male bloggers. I could easily be wrong, but I'm starting to think we outnumber them. Stop by if you get a chance. PEACE!

Tim Pitzener - parody or poster child?

Tim Pitzener - parody or poster child?

Actually just a regular guy who laughs at lying femi-dweebs like Trish.

Tim Pitzener - parody or poster child?

Neither. He's a terrier who won't stop humping my leg.

Were you at the rally in Concord yesterday? Officially 150 people, which sounds about right. But a lot more support on the street - there was scarcely more than a few minutes stretch when there weren't multiple cars honking and waving. And only 3 pathetic little teenage hecklers showed up, after everyone was gone home nearly, and one of them may well go and read some countering views after the discussion.

Posted by: bellatrys at Mar 20, 2005 2:03:51 PM

No, Bellatrys, I wasn't at the rally. What was the rally about? I missed it. Usually on the weekends I prefer to stay home. I didn't even make it to America's Stonehenge today because I slept in. The place closes at 5, and it takes me an hour to get there. There was no point in going if I could only stay for a couple of hours.

At least there's no sign of the snow they were calling for. I'm so sick of snow. I want Spring to show itself fast.

Posted by: Trish Wilson at Mar 20, 2005 2:22:29 PM

Trish, if you don't wear a nightie won't you get cold?

Posted by: Lance at Mar 20, 2005 5:03:04 PM

LOL you asked me that twice. I know it was a mistake but it's amusing nonetheless.

Posted by: Trish Wilson at Mar 20, 2005 5:09:57 PM

Too many Windows open at one time, Trish. That's my excuse.

You should have Tim neutered. That would calm him down.

Posted by: Lance Mannion at Mar 20, 2005 7:29:14 PM

wow, thanks for thinking i'm kewl and the link and all.

hey, what ever happened to "dave"? i kind of miss him

Posted by: upyernoz at Mar 20, 2005 9:19:16 PM

Anti-war rally, anniversary of the war, out in front of the Statehouse. I drove up, so did a number of people, but there majority from Concord I think. One of the speakers was a kid from Concord High who said the recruiters had been bringing jeeps and humvees into the courtyard and letting kids play in them. Lot of youth participation, but all ages well represented.

Posted by: bellatrys at Mar 20, 2005 9:56:43 PM

Noz, "Dave" wrote to me a couple of days ago. I'm not sure what happened to him. I hope he comes back. He's my pet troll. ;)

Posted by: Trish Wilson at Mar 21, 2005 9:11:43 AM

Lance, neutering doesn't necessarily work. I neutered one of my cats years ago and it only made him more neurotic.

Posted by: Trish Wilson at Mar 21, 2005 9:12:37 AM

I'm sorry I missed the rally, Bellatrys. It sounds like it was very successful. The Sisters In Black (I think that's what they're called) rally around my town occasionally. I've seen them while driving around town.

"Hugo is going to be a guest dartboard speaker on Glenn Sacks's radio show Sunday (tomorrow)."

This was funny...

Hugo handles it well nevertheless...and you can't just preach to the converted ALL the time...so he engages with those who disagree with him...

In spite of frequently being a 'human dartboard' for many of them...

It's all part of the game, I guess.

Posted by: NYMOM at Mar 21, 2005 9:38:19 AM

"Tim Pitzener - parody or poster child?"

How about just a jerk who has nothing better to do with his time but harrass people on the internet...

Posted by: at Mar 21, 2005 9:41:11 AM

"Tim Pitzener - parody or poster child?

Neither. He's a terrier who won't stop humping my leg."

You are on a roll this morning Trish...this was pretty funny...

Posted by: NYMOM at Mar 21, 2005 9:42:33 AM

Sometimes the jokes just write themselves, NYMOM. ;)

Posted by: Trish Wilson at Mar 21, 2005 10:14:57 AM

Well the Heretik doesn't have Moi listed on his blog, so Pfft! to his "good job"....!

Anyway - if you ever find out what a fish fart sounds like, post it. ;D

Posted by: Moi ;) at Mar 21, 2005 12:38:21 PM

Moi: "Anyway - if you ever find out what a fish fart sounds like, post it. ;D"

Go here. There is a .wav file of the fish fart. It sounds like a metronome.
