I Heard The Owl Call My Name
I was up late last night reading a horror novel ("Ghoul" by Michael Slade) when I heard a strange sound from outside my bedroom window. I stood there listening to it for the longest time. Since it was dark I figured it was a nocturnal bird like an owl. It was in the tree next to the back door.
You should have seen the cats. They were seriously creeped out. Fraidy-cats, every one of 'em.
I was right. It was a screech owl. I found a couple of pages of bird calls via Google, and located the sound. If you want to hear what I heard in the dead of night, go to this link and scroll down to common screech owl. Choose a link to hear its call.
It took me no time at all to locate a bird call page and identify that owl's call. I swear, you can find anything on the Internet. ;)

Ooh, I remember my fear upon first hearing a screech owl as a teenager after our move to a country home. I told my dad that someone was torturing horses at night.

I once found one of those animal sound sites on the web and scared the crap outta my cat with the wolf howl.

LOL we are in Bar Harbor now.....and my email is fucked, not sure why but nothing will send. I can get hundreds of spam emails but not my regular mail (figures). I just got your phone message. You need cellular service that works ;)
