Freep Ralph Nader!!!!

Ralph Nader has a survey up at his web site asking the public to tell him how much they want him to run for President in 2004. [Via Talking Points Memo.]

There's even a slot asking for your opinions. I plan to tell him I don't want him to succeed in giving Bush another four years in office, and that he should keep his ego at home.

Interesting question on the survey: "Is there any declared candidate for President that if they were to win the nomination would make you unlikely to support a Ralph Nader candidacy?" If you say "yes," he then wants to know which Democratic candidate you would vote for. Ralphie-boy wants to know who is a real threat to him. Great. More attack ads.

This is disheartening.

It's not only his tactics that incite me, but just like when Clark revealed his great idea of trying to run for presidency, the media's attention will be taken away from more important issues and the already-large number of contenders.

Besides, there's already a candidate that would also align with a lot of Indepenents/Greens/etc.: Dennis Kucinich. Sure, Nader has the notoriety, but he should come out in support of Kucinich, not help to confuse the public with yet one more candidate to choose from.

Go AWAY, Nader. I voted last week and left a little note saying that he should stay the hell away. For all the good Nader stands for, he will be making a bad, bad choice to run again. He's part of what got us into this Bush business in the first place.

I gave Ralphie-boy a piece of my mind:

"Even if I did have a declared candidate for President in mind I wouldn't give his/her name to you just to watch you make attack ads. Ralph, if you would have steered clear of the last Presidential election this country would not be in the colossal mess its in now. Deny it all you like. The only persons benefiting from your ego are you and Bush administration.

For the record, I'm a liberal Independent. If I were a conservative Republican I'd thank you and beg you to run again."

hello,

i have little to no sympathy for Mr. Nader but he is most definitively not the reason that Bush "won" the presidency in the last election

the election was stolen in an outright & rather blatant fashion - check out Greg Palast's "The Best Democracy Money Can Buy" for a good account - Mr. Nader had a minor effect if any - & can you blame people for wanting something other than Tweedledee & Tweedledum? the Democrats are as bankrupt as the Republicans, Dean included - as Utah Phillips once said, "Working with the Democratic Party is like rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic"

i'm surprised anyone has any faith in the electoral process at all after such a debacle, though i personally have always found the existence of the electoral college to be one of the best reasons for regarding the whole shebang with suspicion - & with the new electronic voting machines being put in place... well, i guess we'll all see the results come November, won't we? but i wouldn't be surprised if even more people sat the next one out again, or voted for a whole range of third parties, no matter that they'll "lose"
